if it's a zz3 or zz4, the red line is 5800 rpms, keep it under that for 500 mi. and you should be fine. I like changing the oil for the first time at 1000,mi. but it isn't a must. if it's either of the engines I mentioned, good luck . The are great engines, I've had serveral of them ,and they perform great. I found running a 600 cfm carb. with vaccuum secondaries works excellant with those engines, and a nice set of headers help move them right along. (careful for speeding tickets)

You can get the 604 and 602 crate engine bolts from claytonsperf on E-bay. There by far best ones and brake-off at the right TQ. I've tried others and the quality just is not the same.

Sounds like your problem is the brake booster valve ...... When the valve goes bad it takes the vacuum away from the motor, and when you apply the brake the motor will stutter and when you pull it into gear it will usually kill the motor unless you are giving it a little more gas than you normally would to keep the motor running. The little valve is located at the booster...it will have a small vacuum hose that comes from the motor to the brake booster valve. The valve just pops into the booster, and can be found at some auto parts store.
