There should be no power to the steering arms, you have a hot wire going to ground somewhere there, pull various system fuses and retest with the light to narrow the search down to a specific electrical system, then at least you will know where to look.
you have a short where negative is touching the metal of the car or it is grounded inproperly
Alternator Belt has snapped, causing you alternator to stop charging causing you battery light to come on, but this belt also runs your power steering pump which if that's not working your steering will become heavy
It should be connected to the power steering pump which is under the alternator; probably right next to the battery.
nothing to do with the battery it is probably a loose alternator belt or power steering belt
Whining noises often come from the alternator or the steering pump. Check the power steering fluid in the pump (there is a dipstick on the pump), and have an AVR test done on the alternator. If the alternator is faulty, you are probably having battery problems as well. If the steering pump is low on fluid or is faulty, you probably are experiencing jerky steering from time to time.
Fist may be steering lock fail at position 2 second alternator not charged to battery ( bad alternator ) i thing diode froom alternator broken
Remove Battery Negative Cable & secure away from post. Release tension on Belt Tensioner & remove Serpentine Belt from Alternator Pulley. Remove Battery Cable & Electrical Plug from Alternator. If applicable, remove Power Steering Line Clip from Alternator. Remove Alternator Mounting Bolts. Remove Alternator. Installation is reverse.....
The fuse between the battery and alternator is a fusible link in the small wire that hooks up to the battery terminal along with the regular battery cable. It looks like a thick spot in the wiring. To replace, the cable must be replaced. .
The alternator is not charging or not charging enough.
my battery light has come on, do i need a new alternator
The battery light on usally means that the alternator is not charging. Take to local Autozone and they can check it for free.
depending on what the belt is hooked up to. if it is only to the power steering then that's all that goes out but if its a serpentine belt that powers multiple components then anything from power steering, a/c, fan, or alternator can stop running. although your car, if it has a good battery will not need the alternator to keep running.
