You should not be sworn to secrecy, this is a medical emergency.
Morally: As a friend you have every right to be concerned with your friend's want to attempt suicide. You need to out right ask him if he/she is planning anything, now, next couple weeks etc. You need to persuade them to see that there are people who care about them (you, Drs, family, other friends) and finally you need to refer them to get help. If it is a dire medical emergency, call 911. Under the mental health act, if a person is threatening to hurt themselves, you can get police assistance to help you get them to the hospital.
Legally:
This is a Canadian Act, but I am sure the USA has something very similar. In Canada it is against the law to share someone's personal health info with anyone unless it falls under this category: Person is in danger of hurting themselves, or others; or suspicion of child abuse,
true
honesty should not make you lose your best friend. that is what a friend should be is honest. friends are true to each other and if you're not honest and true then they will not be honest and true to you. sometimes things should maybe be kept to yourself or possibly reworded in ways that arent as blunt b/c it is your friend and you dont want to hurt their feelings and whatever the situation you should think about what the best thing for the FRIEND is. i mean I dont know of any person that confides in someone to get in return an unhonest answer but you know sometimes the truth hurts
Normaly, I would say no. This is because when he syas "friend", he means himself. Lowfroyo has spoken
Flirt with him and make some moves.
You can know if he stares at your face and stares into your eyes when you two talk. If he stares at "other" parts of your body get away from him because he is a creeper and a pervert. You should then think if you really like him as more than a friend, if you do then tell him, if you don't then don't let himself make a fool of himself and just tell him (as gently as you can).
Danish scientist Niels Bohr said, 'The best weapon of a dictatorship is secrecy, but the best weapon of a democracy should be the weapon of openness.' Additionally, John F. Kennedy was quoted as saying, 'The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society.'

YES!!tell her
No. I had a school friend (in the 60's) of that age who shot himself in an accident with a gun.
Tell him to come clean about it, or you will. Give him some time to do it himself, but if you don't hear anything about it then you should tell her yourself.
I have a question about the law. My friend got injured (because of elbowing and hard to judge it is intentional or not) in university basketball game (This game is held by Student Union). Who should be responsible for my friend s injury. University, Student union, that guy who elbows my friend or my friend himself? By the way, my friend paid the registry fee to the student union, which means the student union has the responsibility? My friend has school insurance. Of course, the insurance cannot cover 100% of the medical fee. My question is who should be responsible for the excess part of the medical fee.
