can I switch ignition cylinder with a different ignition cylinder w/key in a 2004 chevy Malibu without having to use a passcode
TRY TURNING THE KEY OVER.
you are going to have to take the whole key cylinder out.
A key will not be released if it is not in the OFF position only. If it is any other position, the key sticks.

about $1.50 if you have a spare key that they can cut a new one off of.
The neutral safety switch is bad, the ignition does not recognize it is in park. Your ignition switch may be bad.
I made a new key made and now the car will not start: I need instructions onj how to manualy program the key:
The key or lock may be worn out or it may just need lubrication. Spray powdered graphite into the lock cylinder. Do not use WD40. You can buy a tube of powdered graphite at any hobby store and WalMart.
please give instructions on replacing the ignition switch on my 99 Malibu
I'd call a locksmith. That could require drilling. Not easy for even a mechanical type person.
