I have a 95 Lumina 3.1 and it would cut out of gear when I would stop, it turned out to be the sprag gear in the transmission. $$$$
The transmission fluid may have thined out from the heat.
your car is out of gas
i have a 2001 Chevy lumina and i am wondering if the ECM is going out, sometimes it will die when i am driving but starts right back up, sometimes it will die and not start up after several hours of sitting, then it starts up. Could this be the ECM?
I was told by mechanic who was going to replace the cabin air filter that in fact, there isn't one in the 1999 Lumina. Hope this helps...
why does my 1991 Chevy lumina that when going up a hill or when it reaches approximatly 65 mph starts hestitating, when cars get older they do that.
i have a 97 lumina the tranny slips form 2 to 3rd or when you try to go faster is there bands that can just be adjusted???????? or if the tranny going out
Try having the fluid and filter changed. If the problem persists seek help from a professional. You are driving an 11-year-old car and if you have not had the fluid changed at regular intervals this might be the problem.
If the pump is leaking or noisy then assume it is failing.
Just read it! Nobody's going to do your homework for you
Transmission might be going out, remove some of the transmission fluid and replace it with some transmedic. If you're not mechanically inclined, take it to Midas or someplace and they can do it for you. :)
You just dump it down the dipstick tube. You're going to want a funnel and it's going to take a while to get it all in there. If it's getting frustrating, you can start your car for a little bit and let the fluid transfer from the torque converter to the engine. This shouldn't damage your transmission as there's still residual fluid and you aren't actally driving it.
Under the hood on the passenger side, down low between the engine and the fire wall. You can reach the cap with your fingers but you can't see it very well. Who ever designed that one is surely not going to heaven.
