How do you release the pressure on belt tensioner on 2003 ford ranger?
use a pry bar between the ideler arm and pully. The tensioner is sprig activated. This will take a little pressure, but it should loosen with eaze. after releaseing tensioner, it will tighten back up b/c of the spring.

remove the a/c ideler pully, hoses that are in the way and the water pump belt tensioners.and the air filter box. the 1 of the 3 bolts are a pain to undo in the t- stat houseing. 12mm's. good luck
How do you replace the idle pulley on a 1994 Saturn SC1?
I have a 94 Saturn 1.9 and just replaced the serpinetine belt and installed a new ideler pully and belt pulley tensoner.First raise frount of car and support it on jack stands block back wheels and disconect pos batt cable.take frount passanger side tire off.remove inner wheel cover.use a pice of wood on a jack and take a little presure off of the engine not much.make sure that wood is under oil pan as not to damage oil pan.take top motor mount off, don't worry motor will not fall as you have the jack in place.use correct wrench and turn bolt on the delt tensoner, lift belt off of all pullys.With same wrench lossen bolt off and remove tenssoner pully assy.Now is a good time to replace v-belt and ideler pully and belt tenssoner pully assy. it cost me 32.00 for belt and 111.00 for tensonner assy and 56.00 for ideler pully.Put it all back the way you took it offToke me about 2 hours not in a hurryGood luck.AnswerI have a 94 Saturn 1.9 and just replaced the serpinetine belt and installed a new ideler pully and belt pulley tensoner. there is a ideler pulley on the front right side of the moter use a 15mm or 3/8ths drive rachet take tension of off belt and if needed look a diagram on front plastic under hood for belt diagram to put new on after old is off.
