If a rabbit twitches it can mean several things, such as:
- Got an itch
- Another animal such as a dog or cat
- The rabbit may be cold (under 40F/5C is too cold for a rabbit; even 50F/10C could be too cold if the rabbit doesn't have a dry shelter out of the wind with bedding to snuggle into)
- If the rabbit is asleep, it's probably just dreaming
- Could have parasites or another skin problem
- Could be a seizure
If the rabbit carries on twitching, take it to the vet just to be on the safe side.
Ongoing twitching is not normal and a sure sign that something is wrong. Look for other signs of ill-health in your rabbit (see related question below about rabbit sickness), and bring him/her to a vet with experience and knowledge in rabbits, because not all vets know about rabbits but they are very different from cats and dogs and require some unique treatments.
