Your check engine light will not come on in the auxilary (accesory) position. It comes on when the key is in the on (run) position to check the warning lights just before you start the vehicle.

Turn the ignition switch to the auxiliary position. Do not start the engine. Leave the ignition switch in the auxiliary position for 30 seconds. This will reset your alarm system.

I'm not a mechanic / technician but from what I have read the camshaft position sensor for the Ford 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine is on top of the engine , near the centerline , near the firewall ( apparently you can't see it until the upper intake manifold is removed )
