Was your shifter a bit stiff for a while before it broke? Mine was, until one day, it seemed to work really easy. Unfortunately, the cable broke at the transmission, so I couldn't put it into gear. I guess you just can't have it all. Open your hood, look down to the right. There's a cable running down to your transmission, probable with a black ribbed boot on it. It may appear to be connected, but move it aside at the bottom. If it's not connected, it's broken. I rigged something up to get it going, but I'm going to have to get out every time to put it into park. Does that make my automatic a semi-automatic now? :))) Good luck, happy trails, and all that other stuff,

They don't use linkage, they use a cable. The cable goes between the shift lever mechanism to the transmission.
Front of the transmission, the thing the shift cable attaches to.
it doesnt have one, it is an electronic speedometer
