I would try to connect the device to another computer to make sure its not just your computer. If both computers cannot see the data there is most likely damage to the FAT (file allocation table) and/or boot record or the transport hardware in the external enclosure is going bad. If you can physically remove the harddrive from the enclosure and directly connect to a motherboard, that may be another alternative. If all this fails, you may have to contact a data recovery company or try recovering data with a freeware data recovery program (or buy one)
You need to describe the problem in more detail. Here are some things to try:
Have you tried connecting the hard drive to another PC - does that work? Have you tried a different cable? Is the power light on? Do you get any messages on the PC? Can you plug something else into the same USB socket and does that work?
You usually CANNOT use an external hard disk with two computers, because 1) The computer has to be the controller (i.e. you cannot have two controllers) and 2) Its a difficult problem to have an operating system that can work with another OS to share a volume, BUT You can plug the external hard disk, into another computer, and set it up for file sharing, and have the computer its plugged into, manage the file system, while the other computer, if its networked, have access to the external Hard disk, through file sharing. Look for 'Set up Windows file sharing' on the internet for a how to.
You'd access the external drive like any other drive. Just go to My Computer or Computer and find the drive there. Otherwise, if you know its letter or physical address, or if you can drill your way to it within a program, you can access it.If you cannot find the new external drive, it is possible that it has no valid partition table. In that case, try a partition manager or Windows own disk manager that can be accessed through the administrative tools. One thing to keep in mind is that older versions of Windows such as Windows 98 may require drivers to be able to use external drives. Newer versions have the necessary drivers.
I cannot access the Internet with the computer I'm trying to download drivers, that is one of the drivers missing. I have gone to hp support and copied the drivers to a disc and downloaded that onto the computer and I still cannot figure it out.
cannot be used internally in a laptop or desktop computer
A harmless computer virus is really, just a virus that can not do any harm to your computer. It cannot access any files in your computer an cannot activate anything. All it really does is just sit there.
External. An internal hard drive would be any hard drive built into a computer, that cannot be easily removed and transported to another computer. External hard drives can be easily moved and in the case of flash drives, can be used for temporary data storage and transfer.
You are not an ECOT admin so you cannot have access to the password.
Maybe somthing is wrong with the internal drive. Try an external one.
list of external devices: 1.Mouse 2.Keyboard 3.Speakers 4.hardrive (external) 5.Microphone Do you think these aren't essential? External devices such as external hardrives, come in place when internal hardrives cannot be installed. Duh
Quarantine means it has been "locked up" and cannot access any files or folders, and therefore CANNOT harm your computer.
You cannot make mp3 files to show up in your gallery on the Galaxy S4 for you to upload them as videos on YouTube, if you do not have access to a computer; you need access to a computer.
Make sure that the username and password are correct and that the internet access from your computer is working.
