Has he been neutered? Castration usually prevents or atleast lessens sexual interest and hyper-sexuality. If your dog is entire (not neutered) then this could be because he has a lack of testosterone or is simply disinterested in the female. If he lives with the female then some males do tend to lose their drive to mate with her, which can be why some breeders hire stud dogs rather than using their own males. Your vet may be able to advise you further.
