The fan should turn on whenever the engine temperature reaches a certain point. If the fan does NOT come on, the cooling system is not able to dissipate the excess heat. Yes, it can cause the engine to overheat.
Your truck is overheating because it needs a new radiator. I had the same problem, after I installed the new radiator and flushed out my remaining cooling system I never had a overheating problem since.
Thermostat not opening correctly, low coolant level, poor coolant flow (i.e. clogged radiator), head gasket, radiator cooling fan not operating correctly, if it is boiling over, posible weak radiator cap.
my 1991 b2200was overheating until i removed the radiator and sent it to be cleaned, problem solved.
A 1991 Honda Accord could be overheating if the radiator has a leak. There could also be a problem with the head gasket.
The thermostat may be sticking, the radiator might be clogged, the water pump could be shot, or it could simply be low on coolant. Without further information about the problem, i.e. how frequently it overheats, the conditions under which the overheating happens, I can't give you a definitive answer.
Sounds like a head gasket problem to me in the least. If the overheating caused the leak then you may have to check the radiator, thermostat and water pump as well. Good luck.
Valves will clatter if the engine is overheating.Valves will clatter if the engine is overheating.
Inoperative radiator fans, bad water pump, failed headgasket?
If your Ford Aerostar is overheating and losing water, it may be a bad radiator. You need to take your car in to get serviced.
I'm not a mechanic but, I had to replace my radiator to fix the overheating problem on my 1994. That was the last thing I replaced after replacing the water pump, thermostat, and replaced my fan with a clutch fan. have not had anymore problems with it overheating once the radiator was replaced. Flush the coolant first then replace the radiator. Hope this helps.
Not very far. Without the cap on your radiator your cooling fluid will not flow properly and you can have a serious problem with overheating.
Your radiator might have a small pinhole in it, causing it to not build up pressure.
