If you've never thought of Columbus, Ohio as a fun place to spend a getaway weekend or family vacation you may change your thinking after reading this article. We will explore three of Columbus' many unique offers that are sure to please anyone from a world traveler to a family looking for a variety of things to do on vacation. Family Fun Places

When you want places that allow you to interact with your kids that will build memories they'll never forget Columbus has several places to offer.

According to Parents magazine, COSI is the number one science and technology center for families in the country. COSI allows you to explore space in a space ship at the Space center, split an atom in the Gadgets center, and experience the deep sea at the Ocean center.

If your family loves water parks you won't want to miss Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort or Coco Key Water Resort at Cherry Valley Lodge. Other family fun spots are Zoombezi Bay, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and Magic Mountain Fun Center.

It's a "Guy" Thing

Spend the day at the races from October through May at Beulah Park. Scioto Downs offers exciting harness racing action from May through September.

Sports are big in Columbus. The professional sports teams are the Columbus Blue Jackets (hockey), the Columbus Crew (soccer) and the Columbus Clippers (Baseball). If you prefer college games Columbus is the home of the largest college in the US, Ohio State University.

If you are a golf fanatic you'll feel like you've died and gone to heaven in Columbus, the home of over 100 private and public golf courses and the home of the Jack Nicholas Museum.

Let's Go Shopping

Easton Town Center is one of the most popular places to shop in the Midwest. This shopping marvel alone will fill your weekend full of places to eat, shop, and explore. It even has a movie theatre with 30 screens.

Other shopping hot spots are Short North, Downtown, German Village and several outlets.
