find the ignition wireing diagram and put a switch on the supply power and button on the starter
Ignition switch?
There is two ways you can do this, one method is fairly secure and keeps your ignition almost stock the other method I would use on a strict race car only as it pretty much bypasses your entire ignition. A) Splice a momentary push button into your ignition switch on your Ignition wire, probably the simplest method and still retains the use of the key for killing the ignition and it still requires the key to start the car. B) Rewire the entire ignition switch to have all your accessories and hot power on a aircraft style switch and install a momentary push button as mentioned above. This will leave you car vulnerable as you will not need a key to start the car.
Switch ignition OFF Press and hold in button between speedo & water temp Switch ignition ON (not start) Keep button in for 10 seconds Display will now read zero and "spanner" symbol gone Relaese button & switch ignition OFF
If I remember correctly, an ignition "Kill Switch" is a secret switch (or button) that must be pushed into a particular position for the ignition system to start the car.... That being said.... Simple. If it's a button that has to be pressed for the (key) ignition to start the car, duct tape it in place. Same for a "light switch" switch". OR...you could solder a wire to circumvent the switch..... :) Now remember...if the switch uses a thicker wire....you're going to want to use a thicker wire when you solder it :)
1) Start the car and switch off. 2) Switch the ignition on and press the trip counter button twice. 3) Press and hold the button and switch the ignition off and on again while holding the button until the system acknowledge the setting with a beep tone (after about 20 seconds)
By energizing the post on your starter with one clamp and your battery's positive terminal with the other clamp, when you push the button, the starter will turn using an "old school" remote starter switch. You still need to energize the ignition system to cause vehicle to start and fuel to flow, defeat any interlocks or ignition disablers that may be in place from alarm systems before it will start.
First you must start by removing the entire ignition, itself, on the Nissan 200SX. It should be fairly easy, you will just need the correct tools. Once you have bought the new ignition switch, attach it to the ignition and then re-install the ignition into the Nissan 200SX.
You don't. The ignition is required to start the car. If it fails you need a new ignition switch.
If your 1988 Chevy Corsica key only turns in the ignition and does not start the automobile, it is probably unfixable. Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Slide the out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
how can you start a '89 mercury cougar with a broken ignition switch?
Check out this website, it is the best one I have seen and I'm doing it to a '71 VW Bus right now. http://www.instructables.com/id/Push-Button-Ignition-for-your-Car/
