How to Bake a Finnish Meat Pie?

Ingredients:

Crust:

3 boxes of Betty Crocker Pie Crust Mix

1 cup of water

A couple handfuls of flour

Filling:

About 3-3.5 pounds of Beef Stew Meat

3/4 LBS of Bacon

3 or 4 large potatoes (peeled and sliced to desired thickness)

2 carrots peeled and chopped

1 large white or brown onion chopped (optional)

Requires: Large Mixing Bowl, 9 or 10 Frying Pan, and a Glass Pyrex 13 x 9 Baking Dish

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

First mix the three boxes of Betty Crocker Pie Crust Mix in a large mixing bowl. If you’d rather do a homemade recipe for crust that’s okay too, just as long as you have two 13 by 9 crusts. Take a handful of flour and spread it on your clean and dry cutting board. Dust your rolling pin with the flour as well. Take a little over half of the pie crust mixture and roll it out. You may have to add more flour because the dough may be a bit sticky. Just keep working with it, the crust is delicious once it’s finished, so it’s worth it!

Then season the stew meat with some seasoned salt, preferably Lawry’s, brown it, drain it, and dump it in the crust. Cook the bacon til just slightly undercooked, drain it, and dump it into the crust. Try to arrange the bacon and the meat with a spoon or fork until it is evenly spread out. Once the potatoes are peeled and sliced to their desired thickness mix them in with the meats. Peel and chop the carrot and mix it in the pie as well. Finally, place the second pie crust on top and put three slits in the center, this is so you can steal a potato out from the center to check if it’s done!

If you sliced your potatoes thin, check your pie within 35-40 minutes and it should be done. If you sliced them thick then you should check your pie after hour has passed.
