Whether or not you regularly use your Quartz heater, regular maintenance is crucial to keep it working at optimal levels. For this reason, from time to time you will have to check if all the bulbs within it are working properly and if not, replace them. Below are a couple of steps that you can follow to change the bulbs on your heater. Make sure that you unplug the unit before applying any of the below steps to avoid electrocution and also damaging your Quartz heater.
1. Clear a firm working surface and place a cloth on it. The cloth is to prevent your Quartz heater from any movement while you work on it. This surface should be level. Proceed to remove the screws from the sides of the panel and then carefully take off the panel to reveal the interior of the Quartz heater.
2. You then need to test the contact points of the bulbs. For this step you are going to need an OHM or a simple continuity tester. Usually you will find that the unit has four bulbs. This means that the bulbs inside your Quartz heater work in pairs. If your bulb number one is not working then your bulb number two wont either and vice versa. Place the continuity tester on each of the contact plates one at a time. The meter on the continuity tester will show you what is working and what isn’t by a slight deflection. If there is no continuity then you will have to take out the bulb and check it individually.
3. Remove the plastic covers put in place to protect the bulbs. Due to the spring loading mechanism, removal of the bulb should be fairly easy. You will then need to use your OHM or continuity tester again to check the bulb by connecting the wire tip of the bulb to the contact tip. If there is no sign of continuity then this is the bulb that needs replacing.
4. Get a new bulb and carefully push it back into the spring mechanism ceramic case. Check the other bulbs as well and you are done. Screw the panel back place.
