Grandparents' rights are difficult to establish when the child lives in another state and is so young. Contact Social Services in your area to find out how to go about initiating a request for some kind of visitation.

If a child is born to parents that are not married, that child is said to be illegitimate. In order for the father to obtain parental rights to the child, he must go through a legitimization process. The process varies by state.

If either 1. Your parents permit it. (for legal purposes failing to stop you can count as permission) 2. A judge gives you emancipated minor status. Which will probably take till you are 18 or married to process. Once you're married you are automatically emancipated in most place, but you can't get married without your parents permission until you're 18.

Parents don't emancipate their children. A court can emancipate them. Parents just kick them out when they turn 18. There isn't a process or form that has to be signed. So, what is the process to have the courts emancipate the eighteen year old, assuming the parents will (a) allow the eighteen year old to live at home, under rules of the home (b) the needs for the eighteen year old will be met and (c) the parents are seeking some legal protection from any acts of the eighteen year old.

If you do not believe the marriage will benefit both of you then you need to do what you can to avoid problems later BUT base this decision on what you know of your intended and what you know of yourself. Your parents did the Istekhara...you should undertake the process for yourself, so that you feel more confident in the result. You must do it through the court. Visit the local family court to inquire about the process in your jurisdiction. Since the parents will consent a court advocate may be able to assist you in the process. You need to petition for legal guardianship. You must do it through the court.
