To a musician, walking into a music store is like a child walking into a toy store. You’ll discover displays of musical instruments lining the walls, sheet music and music books filling the racks, and other people testing different Musical Instruments in the center of the store. If you’re new to this fantastic world of music, strolling into a music store can be overwhelming. Take a deep breath, push through the door, and experience the thrill of musical instruments.
Many large music stores carry every category of musical instruments in their inventory. For the brass instruments, you’ll see trumpets, trombones, French horns, and perhaps a tuba on display. For the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, oboes, and bassoons will have a showcase. You’ll probably see the percussion instruments already set up as shiny, new drum kits, or a case of additional percussion like maracas, tambourines, and wind chimes. Even though pianos are considered percussion instruments, many stores will carry digital pianos rather than grand pianos. For a more specialized selection, you’ll want to visit a piano store.
For the stringed instruments, you’ll see violins, violas, cellos, and a double bass on exhibit. However, the most popular musical instruments have the biggest showcase of all: the acoustic and electric Guitars. If you’re interested in playing guitar, have an expert assist you. With so many styles, looks, and feels to different guitars, you don’t want to rush towards the first guitar you see.
Of course, the music store will offer accessories and cases to accommodate any musical instrument you choose. From guitar straps to Saxophone reeds, you can pick up all sorts of extra goodies to assist you with your musical instrument.
In addition, some music stores offer lessons for the instruments they have in stock. If you’re just beginning to learn an instrument, music lessons are a much better way to learn the basics than just trying to teach yourself. Not only will you understand how to hold your instrument properly, getting a good tone right away will encourage you to continue with your musical education.
So, enjoy your music store experience as you walk into that wonderful showcase of musical instruments.
