Sault Ste Marie is located on the eastern end of Michigan’s upper peninsula and borders Canada. The city is the oldest European settlement in Michigan and tourism is their main source of income with the slogan Come see where Michigan was born.

There are many places of interest in Sault Ste Marie, a couple of the most popular are the local waterfalls, camping, a local casino and the Soo Locks, the later of which is considered an engineering marvel. The Soo Locks draw visitors from around the world to watch large freighters pass through the locks. The area also boasts the Agawa Canyon and offers a tour of the canyon by train. Located in the nearby city of Paradise is the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, sure to offer an entertaining and educational day for any family.
