The Perfect Party at Any Age
Planning the perfect birthday party is actually quite simple if you remain organized. Follow these tips for a birthday party of any age that will not be forgotten.
1. Decide on a theme such as a cartoon character, favorite music group or over-the-hill. The theme definitely depends on the age of the person, so make sure your theme is age-appropriate.
2. Decide on a location. Some churches or town halls are very inexpensive and make great locations. You could also go to restaurants which may require a 10-person minimum. Having the party at someones home is typically the best option since it is free and you can decorate or do whatever you would like.
3. Make a list of those you want to invite. You can decide to have a very intimate party or a huge gala. Keep in mind, however, that there will be about 10%-15% of invitees that won't show.
4. Personalize the party by making your own invitations and decorations. If you choose a cartoon character like Dora the Explorer, you may want to add a pi ata to the party and make sombrero invitations. If you choose a favorite music group, make microphone invitations and set up a Karaoke theme. If your theme is over-the-hill, make some cane invitations and have everyone dress up as an elderly person.
5. Serve your celebrant's favorite foods and beverages. Be creative with this. For a Dora celebration, you cannot go wrong with a Mexican Fiesta. A karaoke party cries for Pizza, ice cream and soda. Lastly, a bash for an older person would maybe have sloe gin and tonic and crabby legs.
6. Decide on games you may want to play during the party. For younger children, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs and balloon races are great options. For older children and teenagers, Scattergories or Pictionary would be a fun touch. For adults, trivia is always a great option.
7. Don't forget to give your guests party favors. Favors always show how much you enjoyed their company, appreciated their gift, and are glad they could make it. There are so many favors on the market. Playing cards with photos of who you're celebrating may be a nice touch, or maybe even personalized M&M packets which you can design colors and symbols for at mms.com.
