There are basically two kinds of device drivers for Mac.
The first kind is provided by Apple in the OS and is part of the system software. These drivers are updated automatically by the 'Software Update' selection. You don't need to worry about those, they are part of what makes the Mac so easy to use.
The second kind are provided by manufacturers of equipment that needs drivers for the Mac. You get them from the manufacturer, usually on an install disk that comes with the device, or from the web site of the manufacturer.
Major equipment manufacturers of peripherals for Mac, such as Brother and HP Printers, or Canon and Sony Cameras, provide needed and updated drivers on their support pages.
