A wireless network card has very few disadvantages to it. Who would not want a computer without wires? A wireless computer looks so much better and more professional. It has a sleek, modern look that is unmatched. This is only possible with a wireless network card.

A wireless network card is a piece of computer hardware that allows a computer to remotely connect to a router. With this connection, the end user is able to access the internet and browse the web. A wireless network card comes in many different varieties. Some network cards have an antenna. Others have built in antennas that are not visible. Some even have stand alone antennas that are placed on the desk for optimal range. With a wireless network card, the buyer has options about the speed. A and B speeds are slow but work for simple internet browsing. G is the middle speed and most common. It would be found in most households. The new speed has been labeled N. It is almost twice as fast as G. With this faster speed, it is a lot easier to stream large files, such as movies, across a home or business network.

A wireless network card is also very simple to use. The user will either use the computer’s default program or a special program provided by the maker of the card to connect to a network. With these programs, the user is able to view all the networks in the area. Often times, it is possible to see the different types of encryption on the network. The encryption are put in place to prevent criminals from stealing important data. Once the user has selected the network, a password may need to be put in. With correct password input, the user is now connected to the network and router. Surfing the web, viewing email, or other online activities are made possible now. The user now has all the perks of a wired network without the ugly cords to get in the way.
