The US Army does not have a specific Employer Identification Number (EIN) for Massachusetts or any individual state, as it operates under a federal EIN. The federal EIN for the US Army is typically assigned to the Department of Defense. For specific inquiries regarding employment or payroll in Massachusetts, it is best to contact the local Army recruitment office or the Department of Defense directly.

I believe it differs from state because it is not considered a federal organization. Check your W-2 form, it should be listed under box-b. If you can't locate it, try a tax preparer, they should be able to locate it.
The US Army FIC (Financial Management Information System) and EIN (Employer Identification Number) serve different purposes. The FIC is a system used for managing financial data and transactions within the Army, facilitating budget management and financial oversight. In contrast, the EIN is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the IRS to identify a business entity for tax purposes. Essentially, FIC relates to financial management within the Army, while EIN is a tax identification tool for various organizations.
An Army Serial Number is a Military Identification Number. When I was in the Army in 1963/1966, one would have a lifetime social security number for income tax purposes and a military ID number. Back then they were not the same number, but in 1969 it might have changed. That was the Social Security Number for GI's.
When doing your taxes and under employer name you will put "DFAS" not US Army. The EIN is what informs IRS what branch of the military. Active Army is 35-9990000.
