Airbus gives its maximum range as 4000 nautical miles. An aircraft must carry enough fuel to fly to its intended destination, then to the closest alternate airport, and then circle around the alternate airport for 45 minutes. So it'll go farther than 4000 nautical miles, but they can't legally sell it as "you can fly 4800 miles in this plane but you'll run out of fuel and have to dead-stick land on a freeway if you go 4801."
