...depends on what you mean by "air miles"... Point to point on a map, it's approximately 870 miles. Driving on roads, it's obviously considerably farther, (1,069 mi, according to Google maps) since the roads don't go in straight lines. YOU MIGHT THINK flying in a plane would be much shorter than driving, -- however, planes don't fly in straight lines, either, (especially near airports they visit) and in this case, no major airlines fly directly between those two cities (Alaska airlines makes a stop in Sacramento; United flies through LA or San Francisco; Delta routes you through Salt Lake City). some examples: - United (via LA)- - - - -1075 "air miles" - - - - - - - - - - - - - United (via SanFran) 1120 "air miles" etc etc. - hope this answers your question
