I am not sure what your question is but the term rocket really has no meaning in relation to any specific olds v8-it just means that it is not a flathead motor. olds and Cadillac introduced the first engines in cars that were not flathead engines in 1949 and Oldsmobile needed a new catchy name for their new engine-since engines at that time had no (rocker arms) for valve trane this was something new and someone decided to call the engine rocket. as far as the 72 455 goes they had anywhere from 225 bhp to 300 bhp depending on application. the bore is 4.13" and stroke is 4.25" and should only have a 8 to 1 compression ratio with low compression pistons-olds determined compression ratio with dish in pistons not cylinder head-although D cast heads had a smaller combustion chamber than the rest

What are the torque specifications for a 1979 Pontiac 455 rocket engine?

Are all 1972 Pontiac 455 engines considered HO?

No, not all 1972 Pontiac 455 engines are considered High Output (HO). The 455 engine was offered in both standard and HO configurations during that year. The HO version featured higher compression, a more aggressive camshaft, and enhanced performance characteristics, while the standard 455 had lower output and different tuning specifications. Thus, only the specific 455 engines designated as HO are classified as such.

Can a 350 bolt on to a 455 rocket oldsmoblie motor?

No, a 350 engine cannot be directly bolted onto a 455 Oldsmobile motor. The two engines have different mounting configurations, bellhousing patterns, and overall dimensions, making them incompatible without significant modifications. Additionally, the Oldsmobile 350 and 455 engines belong to different engine families, which further complicates any potential interchangeability.
