If a 1989 Buick Reatta cranks but has no spark, potential issues could include a faulty ignition coil, a malfunctioning ignition control module, or a problem with the crankshaft position sensor. Additionally, checking the wiring and connectors for any shorts or corrosion is essential. It's also worth examining the power supply to the ignition system and ensuring that the fuel pump is functioning properly, as these systems often interact. A diagnostic scan could help identify any error codes related to the ignition system.

You need to be more specific about your problem. If it fails to crank, it could be it is not installed properly. Shims may be needed to make sure it engages the fly wheel gears properly. If it cranks, but does not start, then there are many electrical problems that could cause this. This begs the question, did it run OK before replacing the starter?
