If the coolant fan does not operate on a Chevy Corsica, it is likely that a fuse is out. There could also be a mechanical defect in the fan or wiring.
change the coolant fan relay
troubleshoot the coolant on a 1999 oldsmobile intruge
Stuck thermostat Replace coolant fan module if the fans do not come on.
Fan should come on when the A/C is turned on. Fan should also come on around 1mm before redline or at the very edge of redline as per the gauge on the cluster.
Cooling fan is designed to come on only when A/C, defrost, or engine temperature exceeds 235 degrees
The engine computer (PCM) operates the fans by opening and closing the ground for the fans. The PCM will command the low speed fan to come on when coolant temp exceeds 221 degrees. The fan should always come on whenever you turn on the A/C no matter the engine temperature. The fan will also operate with the engine off when the engine coolant temp is over 140 degrees. The PCM will ground all 3 engine coolant fan relays when the coolant temp is 235 degrees or the A/C pressure is too high and run the fans on high speed.
The fan comes on and run continuously when the A/C is engaged which is normal. It will also come on to cool the coolant in the radiator to prevent the engine from overheating once the coolant reaches a predetermined temperature.
The coolant fan is triggered by a temperature sensitive switch. when coolant reaches a certain temp it turns the fan on. When the coolant drops below that temp it shuts off the fan. The ignition switch plays no part in the operation of the cooling fan.
There could be 3 or 4 reasons for this... First, check the simplest thing, the fuse. Next, check for a faulty fan thermostat or damaged wiring to the fan. Lastly, it's possible the fan motor itself is faulty. i come to find that if your Honda civic has a coolant leak and runs hot...... your thermostat will be stuck in the closed position and wont allow the coolant fan to come on
coolant fan
The coolant fan may have a blown fuse. The electric motor, on the coolant fan may be not working. The ground wire on the cooling fan may be corroded or loose.
Either the fan motor or the sensor needs to be replaced. or your thermostat is stuck.
