It does not appear so. This actually leads to one of the common irritations of many off-road TJ drivers--axle twist/breakage, differential expansion, and bent housings. The TJ was equipped with a Dana 35C solid axle.
Anyone who is a fan of the famous 1992 Johnathan Lynn movie My Cousin Vinnie can attest.
Mona Lisa Vito: The car that made these two, equal-length tire marks had positraction. You can't make those marks without positraction, which was not available on the '64 Buick Skylark! (or stock/standard 1997 TJ Wranglers)
Vinny Gambini: Thank you, Ms. Vito. No more questions. Thank you very, very much. [kissing her hands] You've been a lovely, lovely witness.
Briefly, and pointing out a symantic tic, Jeep didn't call it positraction (that's a GM term). Jeep called it Trac-Lok (clutch-type mechanical), Tru-Lok (gear-type mechanical), Vari-Lok (gerotor pump), or Power Lok. The generic term as the beautiful Ms. Mona Lisa Vito pointed out is Limited Slip Differential.
80w90, if posi it requires friction additive.
No. Wranglers are rear-wheel drive. They all came stock with 4-wheel drive though. The rear is not posi traction. One tire can spin while the other seems to stay still.
Yes, General Motors offered limited-slip differentials, commonly referred to as "Positraction" or "posi," in some 1998 4x4 models. The availability of these differentials typically depended on the specific model and optional packages chosen. For instance, many Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs from that year had the option for a limited-slip rear differential to enhance traction in off-road or slippery conditions.
Not all z28s have posi, I own a 83 and I does. It have posi. But you can buy a lock and it makes it posi.
my 95 is posi !!
on the old chargers and challengers positraction was an option, on the new cars I really don't know if the stock 6 cyl chargers and challengers have posi but the R/T models do.
Most any stock carrier without a posi with have a 2:73 ratio
You buy a posi-trac rear differential.
Yes, a 2000 Trans Am does have posi traction. If a car has posi traction, it means that the car has a limited slip differential. Posi traction is good to have when traveling in ice or mud.
Posi was offered as an option.
Sizes, weight ratings, ratios, posi/non posi, ........
Check the drivers door for the information label and the axle model will be listed under the "AXL" heading. You can cross reference that axle code to a reference chart for Ford differentials. Posi axles are listed as LS=Limited Slip in the reference chart. There should also be a metal stamped ID tag on one of the differential bolts that ID's the type of axle you have.
