I had this problem on a 1997. A dealer replace two modules for $1400 and after 30miles I had the same problem. 3 injectors would not fire, although not always the same three. I had no power. The ABS light and airbag lights came on. The mpg/oil life control panel would dim and flash. The cam sensor was changed for $200 and the car runs like new. Oh yeah, as a word about garbage mechanics with a GM certified degree, the GM dealer is Tri County Chevrolet/Pontiac in Royston, GA.
You locate cam-sensor check for loose or broken wires ,if this doesn't work replace cam-sensor.
Codes P0344 and P0340 indicate issues with the camshaft position sensor or its circuit. To fix these codes, first, check the camshaft position sensor and its wiring for any damage, corrosion, or loose connections. If the sensor appears faulty, replace it. Additionally, inspect the related components and clear the codes to see if they reappear after repairs.
If the sensor is bad I believe a check engine code will be stored. But if the distributor is chirping there will not be a code. You will hear a chirping sound like a loose belt coming from the drivers side of the engine near the air intake. The camshaft sensor and it's distributor are under the intake, where the ignition distributor used to be. If it is chirping you should replace it (the dist. the sensor is ok) or have it replaced. The gear that drives it also drives the oil pump. If it fails you loose the oil pump as well and there goes your engine.
the tank on a grand caravan is like a town and country like i had you have to take the straps loose on the tank , and drop the tank down about a foot the sensor is on top of tank near the gauge
Depends on the year and model of the engine. I was just looking that up in a book today while learning how to change a camshaft sensor in a 2001 Chevy Metro. If this is for a camshaft sensor, then it will be 89 inches/lb. This was quoted for models 1996 and up
Common causes include gas cap is loose, sensor malfunction, engine misfire, transmission malfunction,Common causes include gas cap is loose, sensor malfunction, engine misfire, transmission malfunction,
Mosy likely you have a camshaft that is going flat. When a piston goes up and down it pushes a rod that sits on the camshaft lobe or the high part of a cam shaft. This in turn pushes the valves. The motor spins turning the crankshaft which in turn spins the camshaft. When you have one or two valves that keep getting loose usually you have a camshaft that is going flat. This is caused by many different things. Poor installation. Not enough cam lube to keep it slipping in the valley. If one component resists even the slightest and stops during rotation this causes a lobe on the cam shaft to go flat.
loose wire or most likely ignition module
Some possible problems when your vehicle cranks, but won't start are a bad crankshaft position sensor, or a faulty ignition switch. Another possibility is a loose or broken wire that runs from the sensor to the PCM.
A bouncing speedometer needle could be caused by a loose or damaged speed sensor cable, a faulty speed sensor or a problem with the instrument cluster. It is best to have a mechanic diagnose and repair the issue.
To change the cam position sensor on a MK3 Mondeo diesel, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the sensor at the front of the engine, usually near the camshaft. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the retaining bolt to take out the old sensor. Install the new sensor in reverse order, securing it with the bolt and reconnecting the electrical connector. Always double-check for any leaks or loose connections after installation.
A motion sensor light may be flashing due to a power surge, a loose connection, or a faulty sensor. It is recommended to check the power source, tighten any loose connections, and replace the sensor if necessary.
