Is this a trick question ? ( The 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with the 4.0 L - SOHC - V6 engine has 3 timing chains - first year of pick-up body style in Ford Explorer line-up )

where is the draig plug on a 2000 explorer sport
On a 2000 Ford Explorer : The 4.0 litre EFI engine ( the 8th " character " of the VIN is an " X' " ) is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine and has ( 1 timing CHAIN ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 4.0 litre Single Over Head Cam , V6 engine has ( 3 timing CHAINS ) ( the 8th " character " of the VIN is an " E " ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 5.0 litre V8 engine has ( 1 timing CHAIN )
Ford Explorer Sport Trac was created in 2000.
For a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport : ( " regular " unleaded gasoline , 87 octane )
For a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport : With engine oil filter change : Both the 4.0 liter EFI and SOHC , V6 engines take : ( 5.0 U.S. quarts / 4.7 liters of 5W-30 )
The automatic transmission does - look near the firewall just on the passenger side of the engine
The 97 Explorer has 3-4 timing chains/timing cassettes. They will have to pull the engine out and disconnect about every hose, etc. Very expensive repair mainly in labor ($1500-$2000). Even if only one chain is bad it is better while they have the engine out to replace all of them.
Hi, It depend which engine you have. Is it the V6 4.0L, V6 4.0L SOHC or the V8 5.0L?
According to the ( 2001 ) Ford Explorer Sport Trac Owner Guide : The 4.0 litre SOHC , V6 engine takes : With engine oil filter change : ( 5.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 engine oil )
On a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport : If it has the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine ( which is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine ) The oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is below the power steering pump on the drivers side of the engine I believe on the 4.0 SOHC version it is on the front of the engine in the area where the lower radiator hose connects to the water pump
