Clunking/knocking sound felt though steering wheel and floor when turning and going over bumps at low speeds.
Check out the bearings in the steering column and the knuckles in the steering shaft
many reasons, steering pump, cv joints may be going out, or you could be grinding some plastic that goes around the wheel
most grinding noises that come from turning is usually a cv axle that needs to be replaced. Can also be a bad wheel bearing. If you hear the grinding when turning to the right then the left front wheel bearing is bad.
You may need to replace your rack and pinion if you notice symptoms such as difficulty steering, a loose or unresponsive steering wheel, or unusual noises like clunking or grinding when turning. Additionally, if you detect fluid leaks under your vehicle, particularly near the steering components, it could indicate a failing rack and pinion. Warning lights on the dashboard related to steering issues may also signal that replacement is necessary.
It could be the ball bearings or the ball joints or the breaks but not to sure but that's what it was on mine.
Steering column u-joint defective.
Could be many things, ball joints usually make clunking noises (usually one when turning and one when turning the wheel from turning), cv joints usually make a clicking noise and vibrate under load. Have it checked out, les schwab will do it for free (check it).
Bad wheel bearings usually cause a grinding noise, and are known to only cause it when turning.

If its making a horrible grinding noise, it could be the bearing!
