The altenater is hard if you dont know what your doing I know just did it to my car you need to go under the car and find it and then take off the belt then undo all the bolts to the alt. and wireing make sure the battery is unpluged first .then when all that is done put it back the same way you took it off.
The only repair for a blown head gasket is to replace the gasket.

If you have a general automotive knowledge and some metric wrenches and sockets, you should be able to do it. Might take you 1 - 1.5 hrs to remove it. Not to difficult really except that it is behind the engine and some of the lower intake mounting bolts may be tough to see.
Depends which gasket it is. Could be the head gasket, which simply requires a new gasket and about 10 minutes. The base gasket is only a little more difficult to replace, and may be a good time to replase piston rings, or do a top end rebuild.
