Remove the wheel and brake components, then disconnect the axle from the hub by taking out the axle nut. Install the new axle by reversing these steps, ensuring all bolts are properly torqued.

I have a 1997 Astro and there are actually three (3) oxygen sensors on it. One on each down tube of the Y before the catalytic converter and one between the catalytic converter and the muffler back toward the rear axle. The one the driver's side Y isn't bad to change. The one on the passenger side is impossible and the one to the rear is tough as well.

Remove the wheel and brake drum, then unbolt the axle retaining plate to access the axle shaft.
