The front airbags on your vehicle are set up to discharge any time a 10 mph collision happens....they can also discharge, if one of their circuits are grounded...I say this because I had a friend that was probing around the wiring harness and then BOOM,....or maybe it was more like POW...but anyways the bags discharged and he had to change his pants...lol...but really; he did!! So moral to the story....when it comes to supplemental restraint systems...go to a professional! I don't think that they will discharge with the key off, but I do know that they are hooked up with a capacitor that will hold a charge for quite awhile (set up as a battery back-up power supply) so I guess it would be possible....but I know that the triggers located in the front bumper take an impact of 10mph to discharge the bags in the dash and steering wheel... Just be careful if your messing with the SRS system; 1. Remove the positive battery cable and let sit for 10 minutes. 2. Remove the fuse for the SRS system. 3. Let sit for another 10 minutes. 4. System is safe to work on!
