This is going to sound like I am pulling your leg but, I'm not. Your transmission is right in the time frame when Ford (and most other manufacturers) went to a new system. Check behind your engine (on top) and see if you have a dipstick tube. If you do, you add the fluid through a funnel down that tube. Make sure you aren't putting the fluid in the engine oil tube. The correct tube is about 3/4 of an inch hole. If you can't find the dipstick, you have the newer type that is serviced from underneath the vehicle. Right above the transmission pan on the left rear side you will see two small filler caps. You pull both plugs out and add trans fluid to the top one until it starts to flow out of the bottom hole. Hope this helps.
Where do I add transmission fluid to a 1994 Ford explorer with a manual transmission?
2005 ford explorer's do not have a dipstick, the transmission is sealed and needs to be done by a dealer unless you are prepared to do a lot of work
Should be a plug at the side of the transmission - fill to this level
Unless you have a LEAK you shouldn't have to add automatic transmission fluid on a regular basis
On a 1995 Ford Explorer ( automatic transmission ) You use a funnel and add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube ( it is located in the engine compartment , by the firewall , towards the passenger side of the vehicle , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine )
Use a funnel and add it through the transmission dip stick tube, a very little at a time.
To add transmission fluid to a 2002 Ford Explorer, first ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is running. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually found near the back of the engine bay, and remove it. Using a funnel, pour the recommended type of transmission fluid into the dipstick tube, checking the fluid level frequently to avoid overfilling. Finally, replace the dipstick and ensure it is securely in place.
Through the automatic transmission fluid dipstick tube , at the back of your engine , slightly to the left ( looking from the front of the Explorer ) by the firewall
Should be a plug on the side of transmission - fill to this level
In the transmission dipstick tube , on the passenger side of the engine , near the firewall , with a funnel
A 1999 Ford Explorer is not designed to have a third row seat . The third row seat was available starting with the 2002 Ford Explorer four door model
