Hopefully you have the key for the ignition switch still. If you do you need to start by dissabling the air bag by pulling the fuse if your truck is equipped with one. After that you will need a very small screw driver or a stiff piece of wire ( like a coat hanger ). Put your key in the ignition and look underneath of your steering colum right below the ign switch. There should be a small hole that you can put the screw driver up into. On the bottom of your switch is a small spring loaded button that you have to carefully fish around in there until you depress. When you think you got it, gently turn your key forward and backwards while pulling out on the whole switch. sometimes it's easier if you have someone else working the switch while you try to hit the button. When you get everything just right the whole assembley should slide out. To reinstall you should'NT have to push the button in, just make sure the square male end of your new switch is turned to match up with the female notch that's in the colum.

how to replace the netural saftey switch
To install a universal ignition switch in a Ford Ranger, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the steering column cover to access the ignition wiring, then identify and disconnect the existing ignition switch wiring harness. Connect the universal ignition switch according to the wiring diagram, typically matching the battery, ignition, and starter wires. Finally, secure the switch in place, reassemble the steering column, and reconnect the battery to test the installation.

Do you mean the electrical ignition switch or the cylinder lock and key..?
No spark can be as simple as a ecm fuse blown, a bad ignition switch, defective ignition module or a bad coil.
take the steering wheel off and take the ignition lead off and then you buy a new ignition with new key or vis versa
