To change the rear shocks on a 1992 Cavalier, first, safely lift the rear of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the lower shock mount bolt using a socket wrench, then detach the upper mount by accessing it through the trunk or rear interior. Replace the old shock with the new one, securing both the upper and lower bolts tightly. Finally, lower the vehicle and repeat the process on the other side if necessary.
