remove belt then remove two bolts holding it on and remove old put new one on
You can adjust the belt tensioner by loosening the tensioner bolt. When the tensioner bolt is loose the tensioner pulley can move back and fourth.
The best way to change the belt on a '92 Saturn is to remove the front passenger wheel and then remove the plastic wheel well to gain access to the belt tensioner. Use a long ratchet to hold the tensioner while you remove the belt from one of the pulleys. Then you should be able to pull the belt all the way out.
You put the end of a 3/8 socket wrench on it (with no socket).
Loosen the tensioner pulley. The serpentine belt will become loose and can be removed. Put the new serpentine belt on and tighten the tensioner pulley.
Where is the tensioner
the belt tensioners are on the alternator and the air conditioner. On the alternator, you would have to loosen the 2 bolts that are on the tension bar. On the air conditioner, you would have to loosen the tension bolt and you would also have to loosen a bolt that is behind the air conditioner pulley. You would have to turn the pulley to get the holes to line up to the bolt to loosen.
Unhook the negative battery cable for safety. The belt tensioner needs to be rotated to release belt tension. Remove the old belt. Install the new belt in the same pulley directions that the old one went over. Release the tensioner. Reconnect the battery.
Put the new serpentine belt on to your 1992 Chevy Corsica pulleys. Push the tensioner pulley to the left to tighten the serpentine belt.
I bought a 17mm ring end wrench to apply to the belt tensioner pulley nut. When you bear down on this, the tensioner pulley moves out of the way and the belt can be replaced or removed much more easily. I suggest you check the necessary wrench size before you buy one, just to be sure for your application.
There was no SS camaro in 1992.
I have a 92 PA and have used a socket and the ratchet handle. With limited movement in this area the ratchet will allow you to get more movement of the pulley to get the belt off. Just remember which way the belt was routed as it can be confusing when trying to put it back on.
I have a 92 PA with supercharger, so I suspect it would be the same. You need to relax the spring on the tensioner pulley. I found that a ratchet socket wrench will help to do this. Once the tension is released the belt can be slipped off all the other pulleys. There is a diagram on the front of the car to show how a new belt goes back on. You need to relax the tensioner once again to get the belt back on.
