Please do not mind Captain D-bag's answer.
To remove the headlights on a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, you need to lift the hood and look directly behind the headlights for a vertical plastic rod (off-white in my vehicle). Carefully (with strong hands or pliers) pull the rod until it snaps up in the unlocked position. You may need to raise it a little bit more, but it should be unlocked at that snap.
Reach directly beneath the headlight for some upward leverage, pulling gingerly. The assembly should pop right out.
Further, there's a wire still holding it in. Remove the little gray lock piece, then place your thumb over the written X and pull that connection module off. The assembly will be completely disconnected from the car after this (but you can keep it connected when changing the bulb, if you want, as long as the car is completely off).
Rotate the headlight about 1/3 to an unlocked position, and lift it straight out. Unplug, plug in the new light, insert, and do the 1/3 twist to a locked position. Reconnect the wire module (if you disconnected), slide the gray lock piece back on, put the rubber cap on (which is over the headlight--you'd have to remove it a few steps ago), push the assembly back in (making sure that the rubber seal is inside of the frame, and you may have to work with the rods, sliding them up or down in order to get the assembly back into its proper position), and push the rods down until they snap back into the locked position.
Pontiac Aztek was created in 2001.
make sure you fill up your headlight fluid after you change the bulb
There are several companies which produce repair manuals for a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. Haynes, Chilton, and the original manufacturer all have service manuals produced for the vehicle.
If the headlights on your 2001 Pontiac Aztek won't turn off, it could be due to a faulty headlight switch, a stuck relay, or an issue with the body control module. Check the headlight switch and try turning it off and on again. If that doesn't work, inspect the relay in the fuse box or consider disconnecting the battery to reset the electrical system. If the problem persists, it may be best to consult a mechanic for further diagnosis.

The Pontiac Aztek was considered one of the worst 50 cars of 2001 because of its poor safety performance. More than half of the accidents that occured in the United States of America in 2001 involved Pontiac Azteks because of its faulty breaks and poorly designed air bags.
