Do not just buy by length - lookup the proper wipers by vehicle make, model and year because that will ensure correct attachment as well as lengths. To change the rear window wiper arm on your Nissan X-Trail, first, lift the wiper arm away from the glass. Locate the retaining nut at the base of the wiper arm and use a socket wrench to remove it. Finally, secure it with the retaining nut and lower the arm back into its resting position.
Take it to autozone, they change it for free. If not you turn the wiper so its perpendicular to the wiper arm and push down.

Under wiper arm flap is a grub nut, Undo nut and use a Wiper arm removal tool (there not expensive approx £10) Remove Arm and Replace with New
get a wiper removal tool and it goes under the arm and you just pry the arm up off the splines to take it off.
This is pretty simple. Just turn on the wipers and stop them while the arm is in the middle of the windshield or there about. Then just change as any other wiper.
To remove the wiper arm on a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis, pull outward on the small tab located near the end of the wiper arm. This unlocks the arm. Take a flat-head screwdriver and insert between the wiper end and the base. Gently twist back and forth until the wiper arm begins to lift off the cog. When it is loosened enough, lift straight off. To install a new arm, complete the steps in reverse. Push the tab in to lock in place.

Align the new wiper blade with the arm, push it onto the connector until it clicks into place, and then gently lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield. Repeat the process for the other wiper blade.
To change the windscreen wiper arm on a Peugeot 106, first ensure the wipers are off and in the resting position. Lift the wiper arm away from the windscreen, then locate the release tab or nut securing the wiper arm to the spindle. If it's a nut, use the appropriate socket to remove it; if it’s a tab, press it to release the arm. Finally, fit the new wiper arm onto the spindle, ensuring it's securely attached, and lower it back onto the windscreen.
