It is a very difficult task, but it can be done. On the transmission itself, close to the back of the filter and pan, there is a check plug. This plug, when opened, should be filled to just overflowing. 1. Jack your vehicle up or raise it on a lift, but it needs to be level so the fluids are level as well. 2. Open the check plug on the transmission. 3. Start your engine and shift the transmission into neutral. The Transmission Fluid should be at the level of the opened check plug. 4. If the fluid is lower than the check plug, or no fluid drips out, fill the transmission fluid until it just seeps out.
There is no dipstick, but there is a cap to fill transmission fluid accessible from under the hood. It is located on the right side of the engine bay between the Power Steering pump and the intake box.
Don't wait until the sensor goes off to check/replace transmission fluid.
The transmission plug can be reached down from the top of the engine forward of the brake fluid reservoir. Wear a pair of mechanics gloves, it's hot.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.
how do you check transmission fluid level in a 2001 chevy metro
Most newer automatic transmissions do not use a dipstick.
wheres the transmission dipstick on a 2000 grand am
Being surprised my 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara (same as Tracker) had a drain plug for the transmission. I just change the fluid, not the filter or gasket.
how do you check transmission fluid in 2001 bmw car
I have a 2001 325ci BMW with 150,000 miles. When should I check or change the transmission fluid?
When changing the transmission fluid of a car it is important to know its fluid capacity. The 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix holds between 7 and 8 quarts of fluid.
Remove transmission oil pan Replace fluid, filter, and gasket
what is the part no# for a replacement transmission filter, for a 2001 Pontiac gtp grand prix . Also how much transmission fluid does it take to change.thank you Tim
GM eliminated dipsticks for automatics. You can only drain, and refill. There will be a little red/yellow cap near the top of the transmission by the firewall, where the dipstick used to be.
The yellow dipstick near the battery.
