i know that the torque converter clutch selenoid is inside the trans attached to the valve body. You have to drop the pan and pull the valve body to get it off.
The torque converter in in the front of the transmission, the trans has to be removed to take it out, it comes out at the same time with the transmission. When you unbolt the trans, remove the starter to access the converter nuts holding it to the flexplate(flywheel). **If you didn't know this you are probably not qualified to take on this job*** Doug C
A tranmsission leak from the bell housing will require trans removal to know cause of leak. It could be pump gasket, torque converter hub seal, or a cracked housing.A tranmsission leak from the bell housing will require trans removal to know cause of leak. Transmission torque converter or an exhuast catalytic converter?
P0743-TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID/TRANS RELAY CIRCUITS
how you a torque converter is bad
Three problems I know of are one not changing and/or checking fluid level and if you do alot of hauling the more weight the warmer the fluid get and finally the more shifting you do (mostly city driving) the warmer the fluid gets.ni Make sure your lockup torque converter is functioning. It has to work in overdrive or it will overheat. When your torque converter locks up, you have a mechanical link between the engine and rear end. When the lockup torque converter isn't applied, you are coupled from the engine to the rear end through fluid which can churn and overheat in steady driving in overdrive.
auto trans fluid its crazy i know
i have had to change the trans in my 1994 Nissan Altima once already and it is needing changing again and it started jerking when you put it in reverse. the trans shop told me it was the torque converter
I know that a 1994 ranger with a manual trans. uses automatic trans. fluid
It will "bolt up", but there is an issue with the torque converter. You will need to either have a standard torque converter machined/welded, or you will need to find the special torque converter that came on a 151/TH350 setup from the factory. I do not know if one actually exists, but I am looking.
The trans fluid will take on a pink, milky look.
