Line up the timing marks, install new chain and gears, then do a compression test. If you have some cylinders with no compression, the push rods and maybe some valves are bent. There may be some piston damage done also. Good luck.
NO it is an interference motor 180,000 broke timing chain, bent #3 exhaust valve, luckily it must have stopped quickly as no more were bent.
it did in mine it bent 2 valves and i end it up replacing the head on it
YES IT CAN BEND A VALVE WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE VALVE TRAIN NOT MOVING AND THE CRANK IS STILL MOVING CAUSING PISTON TO COME IN CONTACK WITH THE VALVE THAT WAS OPEN
verry high
If the timing chain broke, the proper method involves pulling the old motor and replacing it with a working one. the 2.7 is an interference engine and it will have either bent valves or holes in the pistons if the chain broke.
If you have installed a timing chain and the engine will only turn a half a turn, you are out of time and may have bent valves. If you have installed a timing chain and the engine will only turn a half a turn, you are out of time and may have bent valves.
If the timing chain is off, you will probably have bent valves.
I'm having that done now(98 S10). $380 to replace the chain. If they have to pull the oil pan to remove broken pieces, it will be $805. When they get it back together, they will do a compression test to see if any valves are bent. Don't know what it will cost to fix that.
Normally no.
I have a 97 chevy s10 and my timing chain broke and bent every valve too so yeah u will need to get ur head fixed or buy a new or used one but if u buy a used one get it pressure tested before u put it on
You have to jack the motor up and remove the motor mount on the side of the motor and remove the timing chain cover wich is held on by seventeen 10mm bolts. I will tell you the timing chain kit will run you around 225.00 but if it has slipt or broke your gona have to have the head checked to see if you bent any valves
There is NO Timing belt...- has one primary and two secondary chains. If chain broke possible to bent one or more intake valves, if slips- all intake valves need to be replaced... Good luck. G.
