I belive It is an air pump I would recommend that you leave it there because it helps the engin breath better. it is an air pump and in some states it HAS to be in working order to pass emissions at inspections. It is the A. I. R. (air injection reactor) pump they put them on for emissions. I would recommend keeping it on to pass emissions testing

well since i worked for echeck I'll tell ya now no cat no pass period as soon as they see u don't have one you automatically fail so i suggest u get a hollowed cat for looks second high octane gas but since u don't have a cat u better hope they give u exemption after the second fail Answer i knew a guy who had this prob somehow he leaned it way out and it passed but headers were glowing red when the test was over he since moved and don't know how to contact for a answer sorry
