put a cat on it
NO.
I belive It is an air pump I would recommend that you leave it there because it helps the engin breath better. it is an air pump and in some states it HAS to be in working order to pass emissions at inspections. It is the A. I. R. (air injection reactor) pump they put them on for emissions. I would recommend keeping it on to pass emissions testing
it will not hurt your vehicle but it is illegal, and if vehicle is due for emissions inspection it will not pass.
If your vehicle is 1995 or newer, it will be equipped with OBD II. This is where the inspector plugs into the on-board computer of your vehicle. If your check engine light is not on when the vehicle is hooked up to this data link, the vehicle will more then likely pass as far as emissions, (smog) is concerned. Vehicles older than 1995 are hooked up to a 4 gas analyser which determine your emissions. Hoped this helped.
No
If NJ has an emissions standard, no. You'll have to repair whatever is wrong before the vehicle will pass emissions.
To pass emissions you do.
Get it fixed.
okay i just found out a carbyrator will pass emissions you just have to be able to run the emissions controls like catylist convertor and air injecton pump if you have one
If it didn't have emissions controls from the factory you don't have to pass any emissions test, check with your state as some are different, especially California.
