To remove the headlight switch knob on a Dodge van, first, pull the knob out to its furthest position. Look for a small release tab or pin on the side of the knob; you may need a small flathead screwdriver to press this tab in. While pressing the tab, pull the knob straight off. If it doesn't come off easily, double-check for any additional clips or screws that might be holding it in place.
To remove the headlight switch knob from a 1994 Dodge B250 full-size van, first, pull the knob out to the "on" position. Then, look for a small release tab or pin on the side of the switch shaft; press it in while simultaneously pulling the knob straight out. If the knob does not come off easily, check for a set screw that may need to be loosened. Once the knob is removed, you can proceed to replace the headlight switch.
If it is similar to Ford, there is a small button on the side of the switch (behind dash) when pressed the push/pull handle will come all the way out allowing you to remove switch from rear

The headlight switch is to the left of the steering wheel. Up till 1998 you pull the knob, after you rotate the knob to turn the lights on.
In a 2008 Dodge Avenger RT, the fog light switch is located on the headlight control knob, which is found on the left side of the steering wheel. To activate the fog lights, turn the headlight control knob to the "On" position, and then pull the knob outwards. If the fog lights are equipped, this action will turn them on.
You have to reach up behind the dash and push a small spring loaded button on the headlight switch, then the knob and shaft will pull out as one.

Two screws are hidden behind the steering column cover.Remove the screws from the headlight switch bezel, pull the assembly out and disconnect the wiring.Remove the nut retaining the bezel to the bracket. Depress the spring button on the right side of the switch and remove the headlight switch knob and stem.Remove the spanner nut and remove the switch.The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Check the rear of the switch -some have a metal button on the side when pushed allows you to pull the knob out of the switch assembly
Unplug switch. On top of switch you will find a small spring loaded metal button. While pushing down on button, pull out on head light switch knob. Knob should now come out of switch. [ headlights will come on, you might want to disconnect battery] Now remove round nut on front of dash. After replacing switch, just push headlight knob into new switch [no need to push metal button].
You push the "knob" in, and turn it anticlockwise, the unit should pull out then.
