I seem to be having the same problem as you perhaps. I have disconnected the old starter, bu I am having problems getting it out since there are so many hoses and lines in the way. I am going to try and remove the coolant lines beneath the starter to make room for the removal and then reattach. What a pain. That was it! The aluminum lines running from the radiator to the transmission were in the way. I removed the front skid guard to make it easier to remove front coupling and all of the mounts in between. Be careful, because Transmission Fluid will leak from the back housing. Otherwise, it was smooth running once the area was cleared. I hope this helps if you haven't already done the same.
