To replace the heater control valve on a 2000 Chevy Silverado, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical shorts. Drain the coolant from the radiator, then locate the heater control valve, which is usually found near the firewall in the engine compartment. Disconnect the hoses attached to the valve and remove the mounting bolts, then install the new valve by reversing the process. Refill the coolant, reconnect the battery, and check for leaks before starting the engine.
