You probably don't need to change the lights. It is pretty unusual for the cluster lights to fail in that way. First check that you don't have them turned off by going to the light switch panel and checking for a switch (either rotary or slider) that turns the overhead lights on. That same switch brightens or dims dash lights even to the point of turning them off. Next check your fuse box for one that is marked inst/lts or something similar. On some Ford products they are not marked and you need to check the owners manual. If you don't have the manual you can check on the internet at one of Fords websights. If both of those fail you could have a bad relay. The last option is to go to a salvage yard and get a different cluster with mileage as close as you can get to your vehicle or go buy a new one. Pretty expensive. Good luck.

To get to the clock you must remove the black plastic piece that is around it that surrounds the computer buttons and surrounds the instrument cluster. There are some screws around the instrument cluster, the rest snaps together.
