you don't -Buy a new one
Hard to say. However, if the "rubber gasket" you're talking about is the center bushing on your harmonic balancer, that could throw your Harmonic balancer out of balance. This could easily make it shake to beat the band which in turn could be the knocking noise you're hearing. I suggest you get it looked at immediatly. If that is what happened, your engine won't survive long.
oil leaking from the front of the engine. harmonic balancer doesnt have a seal it does however have a rubber bushing in it this is to take out the virations caused by engine running, hence the name harmonic balancer . you may however have a bad front crankshaft seal that is bad this will leak oil at bottom front of engine so if you are talking bout rubber in harmonic balancer, you will get ruff vibrations from engine when running, also can throw the timing out ANSWER you will have a MAJOR oil leak.....
The balancer has a piece of rubber that holds it together, The balancer is made of two pieces with rubber in the middle, and the rubber is coming apart. REPLACE BALANCER. The Pulley that's bolted on the balancer may be bent or not on stright and flush on the balancer, That would make the balancer look like its wobbleing too.
The crank sensor is located behind the Harmonic balancer. Try not to break the rubber within the Harmonic balancer when removing or on the safe side replace both the Crank sensor and the Harmonic balancer ( the big pulley on the bottom - most part of the engine.)
sounds like the rubber damper is worn on the harmonic balancer. if this is the case you will have to replace the harmonic balancer.
It is possible that the harmonic balancer has spun.check the rubber around the balancer for cracks or decay. If so replace balancer...
The oil leak is probably comming from the top of the oil pan there is a rubber gasket that goes between the oil pan and the water pumb which would make it look like its comming from the harmonic balancer, try replacing the oil pan gasket this should fix the problem. New answer: There is a small round oil seal / Harmonic balancer seal that fits in the timing cover and the balancer slides through the center of it. That is probley were your oil leak is. Most of the time the balancer itself gets a groove wore in it over time from that rubber seal running on it. You can repair the balancer by buying a Harmonic balancer repair sleeve/ speedy seal. Also replace the front timing cover seal.
No they do not. If you look at it real close you will see that it has a piece of rubber between the 2 steel parts that make the balancer, the rubber has sliped / worn out. The balancer is made of 2 pieces of steel with rubber in between them. REPLACE BALANCER. Before you take it apart make sure that the pulley that is bolted to it is not on crooked are bent. May just need a pulley put on it.
Yes if rubber isolator is bad
It dampens crankshaft vibrations on your main drive pully for the serpentine belt. It's an inner steel wheel bolted to the crankshaft, with a rubber bushing, then the actual crankshaft drive pully on the outside of that. Without it you would likely loose your belt, or wear it out prematurely.
The balancer is made of two pieces of still that are pressed together with a solidpiece of rubber between them. The most common problem is the rubber startscoming apart. and the outside of balancer spins on the end side part, and wobbles.Replace balancer
A bad harmonic balancer often produces a rattling or clunking noise, especially during engine idle or acceleration. You might also hear a rhythmic thumping sound as the engine runs, which can indicate that the balancer is failing to effectively dampen vibrations. Additionally, if the balancer is severely damaged, you may notice a scraping or grinding noise if the rubber isolator has deteriorated. These sounds can signal that the harmonic balancer needs to be inspected or replaced.
